Time for an Upgrade: 37" Tires + Hydraulic Steering

Just working in the shop, adding PSC Full Hydraulic Steering and 37" tires to Gadget — my 2008 Jeep Wrangler — to get ready for an upcoming offroad trip.

There's a point in every build where the parts stop being a wish list and start being a pile on the shop floor. This was that weekend. Big tires, new steering, and a Jeep that was about to get a whole lot more capable — and a whole lot more work.

/ Why Hydraulic Steering

When you step up to 37" tires, the factory steering setup starts working against you. More rubber on the rocks means more force fighting back through the wheel — especially aired down. PSC full hydraulic steering takes the driver out of that fight entirely. No more wrestling, no more kickback. The wheels go where you point them, and the trail decides the rest.

Big tires change everything about how a rig behaves — the stance, the clearance, the way it walks over obstacles that used to stop it. But they also change what the rest of the drivetrain has to handle. That's why this upgrade came as a package: wheels and steering together, because neither one does you much good without the other.

/ Ready for the Trip

By the end of the weekend, Gadget was sitting on the 37s with the new steering dialed in, ready for the trail ahead. Shop weekends like this are the quiet half of offroading — the part nobody sees, but the part that decides whether the trip is a story or a recovery. Worth every hour.

Until the next run out — work hard, play hard.
