The Flight Was Cancelled, So I Bought a Bronco

The Bronco bought on a layover

The layover purchase — driven home to Louisville.

After three days of meetings — great meetings, the kind that make the whole trip worth it — I was on my way home when the layover happened. I looked up at the board in Dallas and watched the whole thing turn red. Every flight delayed or cancelled.

I wanted to get home, and I didn't want to spend the next twenty-four hours doing it. So I bought a Bronco.

The three days of meetings

That's not a typo. I bought a car during an airport layover and drove it home to Louisville. I made it home faster than the flight would have gotten me there.

What am I going to do with a Bronco? Add it to the Turo fleet, obviously. #Win #Win.

The Bronco on the drive home

Here's the thing about that day: the flight was the plan, and the Bronco was the pivot. The pivot got me home, and then it became an asset. A cancelled flight turned into a rental that pays for itself.

On the road The Bronco

Sometimes the fastest way home isn't the flight you booked. It's the second option you didn't plan — the one with four-wheel drive.

Until the next run out — work hard, play hard.
