Early morning on the water

Sometimes the peace gives insight

Early start, long day on the water, off just before the storm hit. Caught a bunch of little catch-and-release fish. Got a lot of thinking done.

Nothing worth keeping, everything worth the time. The little ones kept the day moving, and the day was long enough to settle the noise down. Some days you fish to catch. Some days you fish so the rest of it goes quiet.

The quiet did its job. I came off the water with a list — a bunch of things I need to change. Not vague resolutions. Actual changes, the kind that are easy to dodge when there's always something else to do.

Open sea and a clean horizon

Out there, there's nothing else to do. That's the point. The peace isn't the break from the work. It's where the work finally gets sorted. And now I can actually make it happen.

Until the next run out — work hard, play hard.
