Offshore Fishing

First time taking the jetski out 25 miles offshore. That's a different world than inshore fishing — no land behind you, water in every direction, and the horizon doing all the talking. The goal was red grouper, and they didn't disappoint.

/ First Time This Far Out

There's a moment about 10 miles out where the coastline drops away and it's just you and the machine. The jetski handles it fine — it's built for this — but you develop a healthy respect for the distance. 25 miles out means 25 miles back, and the weather calls the shots on both legs.

/ Grouper Day

The red grouper were there, and they were biting — but everything we pulled up was too small to keep. That's the rule offshore: undersized fish go back, no exceptions. Doesn't make it a bad day. A first trip this far out, lines tight, and a haul of stories instead of fillets — I'll take it.

25 miles out, fish too small to keep — still a day worth the run.

Until the next run out — work hard, play hard.
