Some scenes start with a blueprint. This one started with a carport, a stack of plywood, and some 2x4s.
We're building a church in the woods for a new scene at the Asylum. Not a real church — a haunt church. It has to read as a church from twenty feet at night, by fog and flashlight, which is a different standard than a real one.
/ The Budget
The whole thing is a carport frame, plywood, and 2x4s. That's it. No stone, no steeple from a catalog. The shape, the paint, the weathering — that's where the church comes from. You don't need expensive materials to make something feel old. You need the right ones and the willingness to make them look like they've been there fifty years.
/ The Woods Part
It's going up in the woods, which means the trees are part of the scene. Fog rolls through, branches hang over it, and by October it should look like it's been standing there since before any of us were born. That's the goal anyway.

Until the next run out — work hard, play hard.
